AI UGC for apps, without pretending it's real
Part of: Instagram marketing for indie apps
AI UGC is marketing content in the style of a real user's post, made with AI characters instead of paid creators. It works for apps when the character shows the problem, the post is labeled as AI, and nobody pretends to be a customer. Slide-Easy renders these characters on your Mac, labels every post and charges $49 once.
What kinds of AI UGC are there?
- Talking-head video: an AI person speaking to camera, lip-synced. Slide-Easy doesn't make these.
- Photo-style posts: an AI character in a real-looking scene, with the hook as text: a selfie with caption boxes, a held sign, words on a wall. This is what Slide-Easy makes, as single posts, carousels and stories.
- Voiced videos: Slide-Easy also makes Reels with a voiceover, built from your app's real screens rather than a face.
What's allowed in 2026?
Labeled AI characters that act out a problem are allowed. Fake customers aren't.
| Where | Rule | What it means for AI UGC |
|---|---|---|
| EU | AI Act Article 50, from 2 August 2026 | Realistic AI images, video and audio of people must be disclosed |
| US | FTC 16 CFR Part 465 | No fake reviews or testimonials, including from AI characters |
| New York | GBL § 396-b, from 9 June 2026 | An ad with a synthetic performer must say so in the ad |
| India | ASCI | A virtual influencer must say upfront it isn't human |
| UK | ASA | Disclose AI where people could be misled |
| AI-generated profile label (TechCrunch) | Since 31 August 2026, undisclosed AI-person profiles get less reach |

How do Slide-Easy's characters work?

- Rendered on your Mac with open models (Z-Image Turbo and FLUX.2 Klein through Apple's MLX), not on a server.
- A model card for each face: reference shots and a description of who they are, so the same character stays recognisable across posts.
- Picture variations: new shots of the same face, kept to its model card.
- Your own face, if you like: on a Mac with 24 GB of memory. Never anyone else's.
How is every post labeled?
- A caption line near the top saying the character is AI.
- Instagram's own AI flag, set when it posts through the API.
- IPTC/XMP metadata in every image and video marking it as AI-made.
The characters never claim to be real customers and never say "I used it and…". Before you see a post, it's checked for testimonials, medical and money promises.
What does it cost compared with credit-based tools?
| Tool | Price | First year |
|---|---|---|
| Slide-Easy | $49 once | $49 |
| Fastlane AI | $29–$149 / mo | $348–$1,788 |
| ReelFarm | $49–$195 / mo | $588–$2,340 |
The trade-off: Slide-Easy needs an Apple Silicon Mac with 16 GB of memory, and your Mac does the work, about 3 minutes a post on an M4 Pro. It doesn't sell human UGC videos or accounts.

AI UGC FAQ
Is AI UGC legal?
Yes, when it's disclosed and doesn't fake a customer. The EU AI Act (Article 50, from 2 August 2026), the US FTC's rules on fake reviews and testimonials, New York's synthetic-performer law, India's ASCI and the UK's ASA all point the same way: label it as AI and never present an AI character as a real user.
Does Instagram allow AI characters?
Yes, labeled. Since 31 August 2026, Instagram limits the reach of profiles built around an AI-generated person unless they carry the "AI-generated profile" label. Labeled ones aren't penalized.
Can it use my face?
Yes, your own face only, on a Mac with 24 GB of memory. Never anyone else's.
